Morning Grade Men

Our morning grade teams consist of the Premier men’s side and two additional teams. The teams are for players who are ambitious and strive to play Premier cricket. They are carefully selected by the club’s selectors, reflecting the club’s commitment to high-level performance and excellence.

Premier Men

The Premier grade is the elite grade of club cricket in Christchurch with clubs competing for three titles each season.

Competition Team numbers: Eight

Playing formats: Full round each of 2-day, 1-Day and T20 cricket

Playing times: Saturday matches starting at 10.30am. Thursday nights – 2-3 T20 matches are played starting at 5.30pm

Practices: Tuesday & Thursday nights starting at 5.30pm, Sydenham Park outdoor grass wicket nets, or if wet, the Sydenham Indoor Centre astro nets

Championship Men

The Championship grade is the reserve grade for the Premier grade and comprises players who are ambitious and competing to gain selection into the higher grade.

Competition Team numbers: Eight

Playing formats: Full round each of 2-day, 1-Day and T20 cricket

Playing times: Saturday matches starting at 10.30am. Thursday nights – 2-3 T20 matches are played starting at 5.30pm

Practices: Tuesday & Thursday nights starting at 5.30pm, Sydenham Park outdoor grass wicket nets, or if wet, the Sydenham Indoor Centre astro nets

Division 2 Men

Division 2 is a similar competitive grade with players seeking promotion into the Championship grade and beyond but the grade has a slightly later start time. At Sydenham, the grade is often used as an entry point for our Sydenham Youth players to start playing adult cricket after they leave school.
